VersaBEAM 3.0 Analysis Features

Concentrated Loads
Enter concentrated vertical loads & moment loads. A new command format allows you to easily generate repeated loads.

Constant & Variable Distributed Loads

 Boundary Conditions
Enter pinned & fixed supports, vertical springs & specified displacements, rotational springs & specified displacements, beam hinges. 

Section Properties
Enter constant & variable EI (flexural stiffness), AG (shear stiffness), A (section area), AW (effective web area), SMT (top section modulus), SMB (bottom section modulus). The new GET & QUICK.SECTIONS commands  allow these properties to be defined quickly & easily for constant, variable & tapered beams.


VersaBEAM 3.0 Advanced Analysis Features

Column Buckling Problems
Solve column buckling problems with any boundary condition including beams framing into the column. An example is include in the 3.0 manual.

Lateral Torsional Buckling Problems
Solve lateral torsional buckling. In version 3.0 it's very easy to solve L.T.B. problems. By using the new GET & QUICK.SECTIONS command, you may quickly assign the required properties. There are (25) LTB problems which were compared to 3D finite element buckling models.  This comparison is provided in the 3.0 manual! 

Pile Lateral Load Problems 
Version 3.0 has the same features for pile analysis as v2.1.

Input is explained in the v2.1 manual (provided with v3.0)

VersaBEAM 3.0 Output Features

Plotted Output includes...
Moment, Shear, Deflection, Slope, D/L, E.F. Rections, Pile Net Forces and All Variable Inputs. Also bending & peak shear stresses can be plotted. Plots for bending stresses can be either top & bottom or Max. & Min. depending on the analysis.

Also envelopes (Moving, All-combination & Sum) can be plotted for Moment, Shear, Deflection, Slope, D/L, E.F. Reaction & Stresses (top,bottom & peak shear).

All plotted output can be displayed on the screen or sent to the printer. 

Printed Output includes...
The Editor Data,  Reactions (for a specific case) and Max. & Min. summary tables (for a specific case & for all envelopes)

All printed output can be displayed on the screen or sent to Notepad.exe or sent to the printer.

Printer Setup
Printer setup is easy! You may select the printer to be used for printing or select the default printer or always choose a printer.

New Commands for VersaBEAM 3.0 Include...

The "UNITS" Command...
The UNITS command allows you to specify the units of the analysis. This command is easy to use and will produce unit labels for all output! Also you may easily change the output units without having to edit the problem (output units can be different than the input units!)

The "GET" Command...
This command will easily specify (or GET) a section that will be used for the analysis. Section types include AISC89 sections, AISCv14 sections and user generated sections (constant & tapered sections), A given beam problem may have multiple sections which are specified by this command. Once specified, the different sections can be easily referenced by the Version 2.1 commands and the QUICK.SECTIONS command.  

The QUICK.SECTIONS Command...
This command works with the GET command and allows the constant or variable beam properties to be assigned. In many problems, it's much easier to use this new command than using the Version 2.1 commands. 

The "2AXIS.BENDING" Command...
This special new command allow you to analyze a beam for simultaneus loading in 2 axes (x-axis & y-axis). When this command is used, you can plot & print the Maximum & Minimum bending stresses and peak shear stresses produced by these loads.

Other New Features!...
All Version 2.1commands for continuous input have a more flexilbe format. There are (4) new commands related to solving stresses (area,web area & section modulus inputs). Also, the concentrated load commands have a new optional feature for generating a number of spaced repeated loads.

The Talkmode feature is fully explained in the version 3.0 manual! This feature allow VersaBEAM 3.0 to be used by other programs or software.
